Caty has always been passionate about nature and protecting the planet, choosing a conservation role in her native south coast of England for school work experience. Being told by the careers advisor that conservation was not a 'suitable' career, her path has been varied, since a Bachelor's degree in Geography and French Science, at the University of St Andrews in Scotland. From developing young people's enterprise and business skills, events, adventure travel and eventually international development with Oxfam, she managed to combine her passion and experience, whilst living in Mozambique supporting marine conservation initiatives. Understanding the need to empower people to create their own change and the critical balance between humans and nature, Caty is delighted to join the OneAction team part-time, to share their great work with other changemakers.
Words that inspire me
"Do your little bit of good where you are; it’s those little bits of good put together that overwhelm the world." (Desmond Tutu)
What I like about OneAction
I admire OneAction for choosing impactful and strategic alliances with local partner organisations in the communities they know and understand so well, working collaboratively on core issues that really need addressing, with solutions that are both scalable and sustainable. The passion and dedication with which the OneAction team changes lives and the planet for the better, piece by piece, is something that really inspired me to get involved, because it really is true that small actions collectively lead to big change. More than ever the world needs trust, collaboration, ideas, solutions and above all, action.
